Person Specification

  • An excellent record of leadership in security in a customer focused setting, ideally in the visitor services sector
  • Practical experience of developing security led strategies, policies and processes
  • Experience of development and integration of security procedures and systems within complex spaces
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risk
  • Proven successful leadership of a security team
  • Commercial awareness in securing value for money in security provision, including contract review and budget management
  • Demonstrable experience of crisis management and dealing with large scale incidents or threats
  • Evidence of ability to prioritise and problem solve complex security challenges
  • An ability to communicate effectively, inspire confidence and influence colleagues and senior management
  • Have, and be prepared to develop, a network of security professionals including the City of London Police and local security leads
  • Experience of project planning
  • An ability to prioritise work, to multi-task and work to deadlines
  • Good IT skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook to be able to deliver the job
  • Share in St Paul’s Cathedral’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults
  • Adhere to Cathedral Safeguarding Policies and willingness to attend Safeguarding training and report any Safeguarding concerns through appropriate channels
  • Have experience and knowledge of safeguarding requirements and procedures
  • Work unsocial hours from time-to-time to be able to carry out the job successfully as a matter of routine and as required for special events or when security/emergency situations warrant it.
