You will be a qualified accountant with relevant experience of the charity sector (or highly motivated to move into the sector), good inter-personal skills and a commitment to the work that USPG is engaged in as a Christian mission agency. You will relish the opportunity to help transform USPG through your strategic approach to finances and other resources, and your appetite for effective implementation. You will have experience of leading teams to successful outcomes, enjoy the responsibility and collegiality of senior leadership, take a collaborative approach but also be a confident decision-maker.
EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND
Essential
- Qualified Accountant
- Educated to degree level
- Significant experience of leadership in a financial role
- Proven people management skills
- Audit account preparation
Desirable
- Experience and knowledge of the not-for-profit sector
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Essential
- Financial analysis and planning skills – monthly monitoring, quarterly review, business planning, budget preparation and forecasting
- Ability to assimilate information quickly and meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Good understanding of statutory reporting obligations and compliance issues
- Excellent time management skills, ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, coupled with a degree of flexibility
- Good general knowledge and understanding of resource management (Facilities, IT, HR)
- Ability to work effectively as part of a senior leadership team
Desirable
- Good general knowledge and understanding of investments
- Good general knowledge and understanding of pension scheme operations
- Awareness of the issues involved in international payments
